Sooooo if you follow me on Instagram, then you already know that I cut my hair…. again. I felt it was just time for another change. I hate having the same hairstyle/cut for a long period of time. It just erks me! The last time you saw me on the blog, you may have noticed that my hair had grown out alot from when I big chopped. I wore
it like that for quite some time. Honestly, retwisting all that hair every night was not the business! I dreaded it. I wore buns a lot because it was an easy hairstyle to have when I didn’t retwist the night before. I don’t know why people think natural girls have it so easy. Somebody lied to them!
After wearing the “big hair” for a while, I decided to shave off my sides & back. I had to. I just couldn’t take it anymore. So happy I did that. I loved rocking that look! And to top it off, I only had to retwist the top which consisted of about 7-9 twists. I cut my time down to about 10-15 minutes per night, as opposed to the 30-40 minutes it normally took me to retwist.
I donned the shaved sides look for around 9 months….it really didn’t seem that long though. As you can tell, I got tired of that & needed something new. That’s when I started letting the sides & back grow back in so that I could get this tapered style. I absolutely HATED the “grow back” process. I tried to make my hair look as good as I could with the sides growing back in. If I was a weave girl, I would have been okay. That would have made my life alot easier. I did wear crochet braids a couple of times during the process, which helped, but I didn’t keep them too long.
On Sunday, I’d had enough!! I got up, went into my bathroom & just started cutting away. I mean, what’s the worst thing that could happen? It wouldn’t turn out right, and I’d have to big chop again? I didn’t mind. I was definitely willing to take the risk. Great choice! I love the way it turned out. One day I’ll get brave enough to add some color.
Talk to me guys! I’ve missed you!
